Tools You Can Use Perceptual Position Resolves Conflicts | If
you've recently had an important conflict that wasn't resolved, you
know that you need to revisit the issue and come to conclusion.
Returning to the same situation with the same information is a recipe
for... the same result.
In this month's featured video, Ed Muzio describes the "Perceptual Position" model that he first wrote about in Four Secrets to Liking Your Work.
You'll learn how to use the model to equip yourself with better
information. Whether or not you choose to share that information,
it's likely to lead you to a better outcome. (4:15)

By Ed Muzio & Guest Tony Deblauwe
Huffington Post - May 5, 2011Some
people just "have it." They say the right things, hang around the
right people, and get all the breaks. You're sure you're the best
person for that promotion, but it goes to the "golden child" instead.
Why not you? Is it random chance, bad luck or manipulation? Possibly.
On the other hand, it's equally likely that that "golden child's"
success comes from doing things you could do, too. Maybe getting passed
over is your own fault.
"No wa y,"
you cry. "I'm not going to become a manipulative, sycophantic
suck-up." It may seem like the keys to becoming a golden child --
working the system, saying only what people want to hear, and doing
only the work that higher-ups care about -- fly in the face of ethics.
If so, you proclaim, "No, thank you." You'd rather have integrity,
tell the truth, and do the most useful work -- even when it's not
trendy or popular.
Well, so would we... (read more) Have you read your copy of Ed's newest book yet? If not, now may be the time.

Status Update Assessment Development Update
| |
In the last two issues of Resonance, we
asked for volunteers to try out a new assessment currently in
development. We'd like to thank all of you who volunteered - we'll
be reaching out to you soon. Also, we want to let all of our
readers know the status of our development efforts.
In
late April, we entered a contractual arrangement with The Booth
Company, a supplier, assessment expert, and long-time collaborator of
ours who will develop and host our new online assessment. We are
planning to launch the tool in late July, and to have it available for
general use with clients by August.
The assessment will measure a
person's use of high-output, low-stress patterns of behavior in the
workplace. These are the same patterns defined in Ed Muzio's book, Make Work Great, and taught in the workshop of the same name.
We plan to offer the assessment in both a self-only and a 360-degree format. It will be called The Behavioral and Cultural Pattern Inventory, or BCPI.
Over
the next few months, watch our website and this newsletter for more
information about this exciting development!
If you didn't have a chance to volunteer for the pilot, you'll still be able to get your hands on the assessment soon enough.
Either way, thanks for being part of our Resonance readership!
